A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): examine the collection at Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, then walk around Parque La Sabana, and then relax in the rural setting at El Toledo Coffee Tour. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Tue): get engrossed in the history at Museo Nacional De Costa Rica, get engrossed in the history at Jade Museum, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles.

Berlin, Germany to San Jose is an approximately 17- hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of flight and bus. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Central Standard Time (CST), which is usually a -7 hour difference. Traveling by combination of bus and taxi from San Jose to Tortuguero takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a shuttle. Traveling from San Jose in July, Tortuguero is a bit warmer at night with lows of 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Fri) early enough to drive to Cahuita.

Traveling by car from Tortuguero to Cahuita takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to La Fortuna de San Carlos.
