Goreme, Cappadocia

Famed for its landscape of unusually shaped stone formations and churches cut into the natural rocks, Goreme sits in the central part of the country, an area originally settled during Roman times.
Start off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): take in the dramatic natural features at Fairy Chimneys, then explore the striking landscape at Pasabag, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Goreme National Park, and finally soar above the sights with Royal Balloon. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: see Off-Road Tours, then step into the grandiose world of Uchisar Castle, then get to know the fascinating history of Güvercinlik Vadisi (Pigeon Valley), and finally do a tasting at Kocabag Winery.

Fly from Istanbul to Goreme in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Istanbul in June, Goreme is a bit cooler at night with lows of 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to travel to Antalya.

Offering both sandy beaches packed with modern amenities and a historical town center filled with Roman ruins and Ottoman mosques, Antalya serves as one of the country's major tourist destinations.
Get some historical perspective at Ancient Theater and Monumental Fountain (Nymphaeum). Step out of the city life by going to Kursunlu Waterfalls and Konyaalti Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Aspendos Ruins and Theater (in Serik), Goynuk Canyon (in Goynuk) and Temple of Apollo (in Side). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Antalya Muzesi, stop by Kaleici, take in the dramatic scenery at Lower Duden Waterfalls, and steep yourself in history at Hadrian's Gate.

On the 28th (Sun), explore the historical opulence of Alanya Kalesi, enjoy the sand and surf at Kleopatra Beach, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Dimcay.
