A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
Get a sense of the local culture at Museo Nacional De Costa Rica and Museo de Arte Costarricense. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Galeria Namu and J.LANG Atelier & Showroom. Venture out of the city with trips to Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center (in Alajuela), Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles (in Cartago) and Poas Volcano (in Poas Volcano National Park). New York City, USA to San Jose is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from New York City to San Jose. In January, San Jose is much warmer than New York City - with highs of 78°F and lows of 65°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Wed) so you can catch the shuttle to Manuel Antonio.
