Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen has morphed into the cultural, political, and economic powerhouse of the country.

Visit Gudmindrup Beach and Nordsjaellands Kattegatkyst for some beach relaxation. For shopping fun, head to National Gallery of Denmark or Torvehallerne. Venture out of the city with trips to Eskebjerg Vesterlyng (in Eskebjerg), Odsherred Golfklub (in Hoejby) and Gilbjergstien (in Gilleleje). Spend the 14th (Wed) among the fascinating landscape of Van Dijks Adventure. There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Rosenborg Castle, admire the masterpieces at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Denmark, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Nyhavn.
