The heart of Tatar culture, Kazan carries the epithet of the "Third Capital of Russia" because of its rich history and thriving economy.

Venture out of the city with trips to Ethnocultural Complex Shorunzha (in Shorunzha), Zelenodolsk (Zelenodolsk Railway Bridge, City Lake, &more) and Sviyazhsk (Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh, Island Sviyazhsk Museum, &more). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Kazan Kremlin, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kul Sharif Mosque, admire the landmark architecture of Leaning Suyumbike Tower, and pause for some serene contemplation at Annunciation Cathedral.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Kazan International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 74°F in June, and nighttime lows around 55°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
