Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The gateway to the island of Saint John, Cruz Bay represents the island's largest town, port, and commercial center.
Venture out of the city with trips to Scuba & Snorkeling (in East End) and Magens Bay (in Magens Bay). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Trunk Bay Beach, stroll through Caneel Bay Beach, contemplate the long history of Annaberg Sugar Plantation, and explore the activities along Leinster Bay.

Little Island

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Mon): kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach and then enjoy the sand and surf at Flamenco Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: enjoy the sand and surf at Zoni Beach, then head off the coast to Culebrita Island, and then stroll through Culebra National Wildlife Refuge.

Ride a ferry from Cruz Bay to Culebra in 2.5 hours. In July in Culebra, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 31°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Isla de Vieques.

Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Kick off your visit on the 21st (Wed): take a leisurely stroll along Malecon and then contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Bay Beach. Keep things going the next day: take in the waterfront at Mosquito Pier, kick back and relax at Caracas Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at La Chiva.
