Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (in Brighton) and Port Arthur (Port Arthur Historic Site & Government Farm). And it doesn't end there: take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, take in the waterfront at Constitution Dock, steep yourself in history at Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, and get curious at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Sydney to Hobart is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Sydney in January: high temperatures in Hobart hover around 26°C and lows are around 14°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Fri) so you can go by car to Bicheno.

Bicheno is a town on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia, 185 km north-east of Hobart on the Tasman Highway, with a population of 853. Start off your visit on the 8th (Fri): see the interesting displays at Bicheno's Motorcycle Museum & Restoration, get interesting insight from Sea-All Fishing and Marine Tours, then don't miss a visit to Bicheno Blowhole, and finally take some stellar pictures from Whalers Lookout.
