Tokyo is known for historic sites, parks, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, push the limits with Street Kart Shibuya, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Senso-ji Temple.

Cairo, Egypt to Tokyo is an approximately 18-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 7 hours traveling from Cairo to Tokyo. In January, Tokyo is little chillier than Cairo - with highs of 11°C and lows of 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Sun) early enough to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Mon): contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and then take in the pleasant sights at Gion. Here are some ideas for day two: step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, then steep yourself in history at Heian Shrine, and finally don't miss a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

Getting from Tokyo to Kyoto by train takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. In January, plan for daily highs up to 10°C, and evening lows to 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Osaka.

Kick off your visit on the 13th (Wed): take in the spiritual surroundings of Nishinomiya Shrine, then get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, and then examine the collection at Mizuno Sportology Gallery. On the 14th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the long history of Osaka Castle, then see the interesting displays at Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum, then take a stroll through Dotombori District, and finally get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Osaka takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 10°C in January, and nighttime lows around 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Thu) so you can travel to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Osaka to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. In January, daytime highs in Hiroshima are 11°C, while nighttime lows are 2°C. On the 16th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
