Kailua-Kona

Thanks to its favorable location near a mountain range blocking the northeasterly trade winds, Kailua-Kona gets little rainfall, allowing adventure seekers and nature lovers a chance to enjoy over 300 days of sunshine each year.
Attractions like Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and Anaehoomalu make great kid-friendly stops. Take a break from Kailua-Kona with a short trip to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park in Honaunau, about 44 minutes away. There's lots more to do: fulfill a lifelong dream with a swim-with-the-dolphins experience, take in the awesome beauty at Mauna Kea, identify plant and animal life at Kanaloa Octopus Farm, and take in the exciting artwork at Kona Henna.

To see maps, more things to do, reviews, and tourist information, you can read our Kailua-Kona journey builder app.

Dallas to Kailua-Kona is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and flight; or do a combination of train, taxi, and flight.
