White Beach

The white sand beach of Playa Flamingo has become a go-to tourist getaway by the sea.
Take a break from the city and head to San Juanillo Beach and Los Piratas de Flamingo. You'll get in some beach time at Playa Conchal and Playa Avellana. Step out of Playa Flamingo with an excursion to Pura Aventura in El Guapote--about 42 minutes away. There's more to do: choose your vessel at Costa Rica Sailing Center.

A coastal getaway popular with surfers and young travelers, Santa Teresa spreads out from the beach and the main coastal road to a ring of newer developments on the surrounding hills.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Wed): stop by Tica Surf Bikinis and then admire the sheer force of Montezuma Falls. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stroll through Playa Hermosa and then kick back and relax at Playa Santa Teresa.

You can drive from Playa Flamingo to Santa Teresa in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of bus and shuttle. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Thu) to allow time to take a shuttle to La Fortuna de San Carlos.
