Phraya Nakhon Cave, Sam Roi Yot

Must see · Cave · Nature / Park
Explore the naturally illuminated caverns of Phraya Nakhon Cave. Rays of sun flowing in from openings at the roof light up the two caverns, making it a something of a surreal spot for pictures. Notice the natural stone bridges above the openings, which the wildlife use to scurry across overhead. The second cavern is famous for the Kuha Karuhas pavilion, originally built during King Rama V's reign in the 19th century. At certain times of day, the sunlight directly showers the altar, creating a mystical ambience. • This is a fun, if not slightly difficult trek to see a temple in a natural cave. A 400 baht boat ride saves a long trek if you prefer. Foreigners pay 4x more than Thai, something I personally don't...  more »

  • Wow, what an amazing magical place! We walked the 2km there and 2km back. If you take the boat you avoid the first 1.5km but to be honest that's the easier part. Everyone has to do the tougher 500m. Keep an eye out for the dusty lemur we were lucky and saw some near the toilets before heading off on the last 500m. We arrived at 10am, it was perfect timing, there were only maybe 10 others in the cave, so it was really peaceful.
  • Small temple inside a large cave , a fairly steep climb up a mountain track of about 400 meters then down into a big cave that has a small temple in the middle that gets lit up by the sun around 10.30am till the sun goes over. Not for the faint hearted. Worth seeing
