Known by the locals as Wat Yai, Phra Si Ratana Temple (Wat Yai) was built in the 14th century and is now famous for its gold Buddha sculpture, which some consider to be one of the most beautiful of its kind in Thailand. When you view the sculpture, look for its halo that signifies the spiritual radiance of Buddha. Also admire the wood-and-pearl ordination hall doors and the Ayutthaya-style pagoda.     Everyone very friendly and no charge was made. Nice just to wander round the site (there is a fair amount of archeological restoration work going on). I regret not learning more about the temple...  more »

    Great place bigger than it looks at first, I took a couple of hours there just wandering around visiting the many shrines. Good photo opportunities 👍

    Often sighted as one of the most beautiful images of Buddha. Very popular and gets crowed by mid-morning. Security guard was annoying but a talk-to by my Thai wife set him straight. Some folks just shouldn't be in positions of even minor authority!
