Samui Elephant Sanctuary, Bophut

This was my first visit to an elephant sanctuary. It changed my life. These rescued elephants were logging or trekking with people on their backs most of their lives. Thankfully this organization helps buy back this elephants to live out the rest of their lives as normal protected, respected, and loved creatures. They are beautiful, such gentle giants, and they love to eat bananas and fresh greens and forage. This is the place to visit when you’re on Koh Samui , stop by and say hi. (Make sure to ask for Boy as your guide too)

THE most amazing experience at Samui Elephant Sanctuary today. Got to meet and feed 6 beautiful, gentle elephants who have been saved from life of hellish treatment in the animal tourism industry. Urge everyone to never ever ride or go trekking on elephants! Very cruel life for any animal. The staff there truly care about these animals and our guide Boy was brilliant! Everything provided for you. Tea, coffee, cold water, clean toilets, shade and a great Thai buffet included. amazing experiences of feeding elephants and seeing them play in mud. I litteraly had an elephant with her head on my lap, so gentle and beautiful to be around. If you do one thing only on Samui, it must be this!
