As churches go this is a 'model' one. Perfect in every way. Everything about it is to be admired, from the altar at the far end to the organ above the door. Colourful, warm, friendly, it has that... more »

At least you don't have to pay to see the church. It's a little church but cosy. Walking by there is no reason why not to enter and to have a good look. more »

The First Church of Saint-Théodule of Gruyères was raised thanks to Count Rodolfo III in 1254 to be parish of the place and neighboring villages. The Gothic building was completely destroyed by a fire in 1679 and, again, in 1856. The Reconstruction began immediately, consagrándose the current temple in 1860. It Is, therefore, a contemporary work in which stands out its solid belfry.
