Home to the burial ground of the Swedish monarchs, Riddarholmen Church represents one of the oldest buildings in the capital city and is used to this day for commemorative burials (although the congregation dissolved in 1807). The church was originally built in the 13th century as a monastery, but was closed and transformed into a Protestant church following the Protestant Reformation. Of particular interest are the coats of arms of passed knights of The Order of Seraphim that hang from the church walls. This church contains the graves of some members of the royal families and some notable aristocratic families.
