On the scenic peninsula Blasieholme sits Nationalmuseum, which was built in the mid-19th century in the North Italian Renaissance style. You can admire the exterior, but the building is closed for renovation until 2017. The national gallery holds the country's premier collection of art and design, including works from the Middle Ages up to the 20th century. Most prominently, the collection boasts significant pieces from Rembrandt and other Dutch painters. To see some of its treasures, visit the temporary exhibit space at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. Huge museum and they have 3 levels. They provide cloakrooms and toilets in underground level. The museum is free. But it's a bit difficult to store our things in the locker provided as we took a lot of time finding which locker is not in use by trying to put the password. BTW it's a good museum

Nicely renovated. They created a great timeline ranging from the top to the bottom, very well structured and not too much to see. Also FREE to enter! The way national treasures should be.
