    With the Westin still closed, Dawn Beach seems like a deserted stretch of sand these days. Located on the Atlantic side of the island, the surf can be rough. swimming may not be advisable for...  more »

    Sadly this beach was hit very hard by Hurricane Irma in 2017 and hasn’t quite recovered. It was a very cool place to watch the sunrise, but isn’t a very nice beach currently.

    The section near The Westin is just average with mostly Americans and hotel crowd. Being that it’s on St Maarten, ‘average’ is still better than your average beach at home but it doesn’t compare to many other beaches on the island, especially the ones on the French side. Heard Dawn Beach is better on the north end but we didn’t walk up.
