Monasterio de San Martin Pinario
A Benedictine monastery, Monasterio de San Martin Pinario is the second-largest religious structure in Santiago, and has been largely rebuilt so that little of the original structure remains. Look for the cloisters inside the church, as well as the altarpiece that tells the stories of Benedictine saints. The gardens are especially peaceful: you can have some tea or read a book there. Modern rooms and facilities are available for those who wish to stay overnight at the monastery. Superb place to stay in Santiago. Not a hotel as such, dont expect tv in the rooms. Double rooms are very comfortable, clean and en-suite, not huge. Booking directly you can get a 'pilgrim ' single room in top floor. Simpler, clean and en-suite. Great charm. Amazing ancient building right beside the Cathedral. Good breakfast and a menu of the day is available. Staff are helpful and speak english. There is public underground carpark about 10 mins away.

Friends were staying here (fantastic value accommodation and next to the cathedral) so had breakfast with them. €6 for the buffet breakfast that has plenty of choice. Highly recommended.
