Standing imposingly on a rocky hill 100 m (330 ft) above the river below, Miravet Castle (Castillo de Miravet) provides one of the finest remaining examples of medieval military architecture in Spain. Admire the castle’s parapets and massive walls, originally constructed by Spain’s Muslim rulers during the ninth century, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The castle today bears Romanesque modifications added after its European conquest in 1153. Explore the fortress’ labyrinth of rooms, 15 of which surround its inner courtyard, including a granary, church, and stable. Guided tours of the castle grounds are available, and free parking is on offer at the base of the hill. The road up to the entrance is very steep, and therefore it is recommended that those with mobility issues use motorized transportation to reach the top. It's a nice visit but you must avoid the central hours of the day. Too hot and not so much shadows to get fresh air. more »

Beautiful village on the river ebro. Had a lovely morning strolling around finishing with a coffee overlooking this amazing river. Castle is lovely. I hear there is a lovely pottery shop here but I missed it!!

Lovely castle on a hill by the river Ebro. Couple of bars, great ceramics shop just outside town and two good restaurants. Interesting walk up through the town to the castle with great views of the winding river below.
