Meant to be the final resting place of Charles I of Spain, Royal Chapel of Granada is an example of Renaissance architecture that acts as a centerpiece for the city of Granada. In the main chapel are effigies of Isabel and Ferdinand, known as the Catholic Monarchs. Under the elaborate arches and buttresses you'll find El Greco paintings alongside works by Jusepe de Ribera and Alonso Cano. The mishmash of architectural styles and paintings of various periods is no wonder, considering the cathedral took 181 years to build.     Well worth a visit. Reasonable entry fee includes an audio guide with more information than you could ever want to know. Look out for the beautifully illustrated book and Middle Ages paintings of unfortunate-looking people.
