Cut deep between two hills overgrown with beech forests, Vintgar Gorge is full of small waterfalls, rapids, and erosion potholes. Cartographer and photographer Benedikt Lergetporer and mayor of Gorje Jakob Zumer discovered the gorge in 1891. Walk along the tourist path with narrow passages, wooden bridges, and galleries, constructed on the rocks in 1893. Listen to the roar of Radovna River echoing along the 1.6 km (1 mi) long gorge marked at the end by a waterfall plunging 16 m (52 ft). The gorge also features two manmade attractions: an arched stone railway bridge from 1906 and a dam. When you reach the end of the gorge, walk back across the meadows passing St. Catherine's church. What was not said about this site!!! Once you go through the checkout, you will enter heaven. Clear water, small waterfalls, wooden bridges and lots of greenery. A simply magical place not to be... more »

I was amaized by a beautiful nature, watterfall Šum and also the way back was really nice. We took the short way back and we were surprised that it is so good pointed. The best there is the staff... more »

Another great place worth visiting, near the astonishing lake Bled. Try to get there early in the morning though, as the pathways are very narrow and when it gets crowded it may take too long to walk there. Stunning views and fresh mountain air. Loved it overall, but I should definitely recommend hiking around the Mala Osojnica area above the lake.

Absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorite places in Slovenia (which is saying a lot). Bit of advice-- go very early or very late. It is a small, long walkway (I believe about 3 miles round trip). Could be not as dramatic having to dodge people constantly.
