Step into a setting reminiscent of a Russian fairytale at State Museum Preserve Rostov Kremlin, a World Heritage Site. Near enough to Moscow for a day trip, the centuries-old kremlin sits on Lake Nero. As you approach, notice the domed roofs peeking over the fortress walls, which enclose 11 towers. Inside, visit the cathedral and museums, which showcase Old Russian architecture and artifacts important to the culture of the region. Listen to the acoustics in the cathedral, enhanced due to an unusual practice of embedding clay pots into the church walls.
