  • I recently completed an amazing solo 10-day tour of Transylvania (and side/day-trip to Bulgaria) with UnzipRomania. Words cannot express how wonderful my lovely guides Diana and Cristian were! From my first email to the company, until my airport drop off - every interaction, detail and moment of the tour was great. I felt comfortable and in very capable hands/company at all times. There is no way I would have been able to see half the sites and places I was taken in the time I had, nor learn so much about Romania and its incredible history (and current affairs), without Unzip/Cristian and Diana. I was able to customize the tour for the sites and events I wanted, and also to modify plans as needed to utilize the good weather etc. The hotel accommodations and restaurant recommendations were lovely, and the costs were all very reasonable. It will be very tough to enjoy big group tours after being so spoiled as a solo traveler and having this incredible experience! I would absolutely recommend anyone considering travel to Romania book a tour (of any length!) with UnzipRomania - you will not be disappointed!!
  • We recently completed an incredible two and a half week custom Romania trip through Unzip Travel. Our group consisted of 7 people, ranging in age from 7 year old through to 74 years old, and included Romanian expats that had lived in Romania many years ago, along with non-Romanian spouses/kids. Planning a trip to satisfy such a diverse group of people, including some that know Romania quite well and others that do not, was very daunting, but Unzip Travel exceeded all our expectations. I had initially contacted them due to their excellent Trip Advisor ratings, which I can say were very well earned. Diana, whom we first emailed with questions, was always extremely prompt in all her responses and provided good suggestions, and created a custom itinerary for us for 16 days. Unzip handled all of the hotel reservations, entrance fees, airport transfers, and provided our own private Mercedes minivan, including a booster seat for the youngest in our group. Our driver and tour guide was Gabi Florea, who we really can’t say enough good things about. He was an excellent and safe driver, incredible tour guide, and all around great guy. Gabi’s English is excellent, and was better than some of our group members, who have lived in Canada for over 30 years. He was a wealth of information, and provided insights and facts and historical information about all of our destinations. He was also very flexible and suggested things to see and do that we had not included in our itinerary that were incredible, such as Transfăgărășan (world’s best road according to Top Gear) and the Bucegi/Sphinx mountains. We started our initial trip in Bucharest, where we spent a few days visiting the Village Museum, Spring Palace, Parliament, and Snagov Monastery. From there we travelled Brasov and Bran and Peleș Castles, and Râșnov Citadel , saw the Prejmer and Harman fortified churches. Then we visited Viscri fortified church, then the Turda Salt Mine, which was a huge highlight. We then continued north towards the Ukrainian border, visiting many wooden churches such as Barsana, Plopis, etc., then the Merry Cemetery. We then headed towards Gura Humorului and the painted monasteries of Voronet, Sucevita, and Humor, then painted egg museum, and Marginea black pottery workshop. We had been talking about doing this trip for 15 years, and are so happy that we chose Unzip Travel to help us plan and execute it. It was the trip of a lifetime, and we have created so many wonderful memories that we will always remember. We hope to come back in the near future during the summer so we can visit the Delta through Unzip Travel.
