Historic Site · History Museum
Visit the historically significant Casa de la Independencia, where emancipation from Spain was planned and announced in 1811. The colonial-era house dates back to 1772 and was used to host secret meetings of conspirators against the Spanish government. Since 1965, the building serves as a museum and displays furniture and other artifacts from the period. View portraits of the movement's leaders, observe the large mural in the courtyard, or walk through the "Historical Alley," where a group of patriots gathered before walking to the governor's house to claim independence.
