Bodin Church was built as nave church around the year 1240 and was enlarged in 1785 with a transept. The white, stone church seats about 300 people. In 1894, the entire section of the medieval church was torn down and rebuilt in the same style. The church has a stone altar from the 14th century and some wooden sculptures dating from the late 15th century to the early 16th century.
The church is characterized today largely by an interior from the 17th century and 18th century. The altarpiece is from 1670, the pulpit from the 17th century with paintings from 1754 by German born artist Gottfried Ezechiel (1712-1777). The chandeliers date from the 1760s. In 2003, the church received a replica of a Baroque organ from the 1700s.

Beautiful little church originally built in the 13th century. Located in a lovely area.
A medieval church featuring romanesque architecture. Smells of history, dust and creaky old wood. Christmas midnight mass is magical. The organ is world class. If you get a chance to go to a concert here it will be good, whoever is playing or singing... guaranteed! I've sung here myself and it's an ethereal experience. A wander through the nearby cemetery and the neighboring public farmyard with duckpond is a good way to round off the Bodinkirke experience. Notice the ship hanging from the ceiling, a feature in most if not all Norwegian churches, but at Bodin it seems to be organic to architecture, grown right out of the green painted wood of the balcony and straight backed pews.
