  The place gave us a feeling of being home. We were pampered, treated like part of a family, then we realized, we were in a family ran palace. The staff is friendly, efficient and 100% accommodating...  more »

  The palace itself is a hotel and allowed to see only 1st floor where is almost nothing to see. But do not loose the chance to have a short walk to hillfort across the river. There used to be a fort.....  more »

  Went to the castle expecting to be able to see it. The woman at the reception, dissuaded me, and told me there is no reason to see it, since the rooms are empty and in disrepair. It is a long drive from Riga on an unpaved road for part of the way. In my opinion you can easily skip it and not feel too bad about it. There are more interesting places to visit in this area.
