In a fairytale setting surrounded by parks and villages, Venta Rapid Waterfall is the widest waterfall in Europe. Although a mere 2 m (6.6 ft) tall, the fall reaches widths of 270 m (886 ft) during rainy seasons. This official Natural Monument of Latvia is known not only for its idyllic beauty, but also for the phenomenon of jumping fish: at certain times of year fish like salmon and sturgeon swim upstream and surge over the waterfall by hurling themselves through the air.     One of the Kuldigas visit cards. Better to go there on the sunny days so you can walk it thru. In Spring-Summer great to go here, so you can see the "fish jumps".  more »
