See how Italy's royalty lived at Palazzo Mirto, a palace located in the historic center of Palermo. This building's earliest construction dates from the 13th century, when it was built as a citadel Arab fortress. For four centuries, it was home to the Filangeris--the most famous Norman family in southern Italy, descended from the storied knight Angerio. Having undergone significant restructuring in the 17th century, the palace now houses opulent 18th-century chandeliers, tapestries, and a smoking room with a Chinese leather floor. Our Palermo trip planning tool makes visiting Palazzo Mirto and other Palermo attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Palazzo Mirto reviews
-
I loved this Palazzo. The visit is like travelling back in time and see how the aristocracy used to live 250 years ago in Europe. Silk wall coverings to every room, fine furniture, murano crystal... more »

We were the only people visiting this palazzo, which still has most of the original furniture and paintings. more »

Really nice and interesting. Self visit, with good documentation provided describing each each room.

Dreamy palazzo inhabited by the princess up to recent decades. The throne room is most impressive with brocade wallpaper. At 5euros its a bargain and more impressive than most other palazzi in Palermo.
