Fontana della Vergogna (Fontana Pretoria)
Fontana della Vergogna (Fontana Pretoria) is a fountain created by Florentine sculptor Francesco Camilliani between 1554 and 1555. Also called “Fountain of Shame,” this structure is decorated elaborately with dozens of carved figures, including animal heads, nymphs, monsters, ornamental staircases, gods and goddesses, and nude figures. This is all accompanied by a water system that was advanced for its time. The fountain is lit up at night.
