A Romanesque structure from the 11th century, Basilica di Sant'Abbondio features well-preserved frescoes inside its apse, and exquisite geometric relief details around the windows. The frescoes depict images from the life of Jesus--they were carefully restored to their medieval glory in the 1990s. A university operates within the former cloister--stroll its grounds to get a better look at the apse exterior.
