Built in the 12th century as a tribute to the Madonna, Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore makes up part of the impressive architectural complex of Piazza Duomo. Designed by master builder Mastro Fredi from Campione, it stands over the site of a small church from the eighth century. With a Romanesque exterior and an interior decorated and filled with art from the Baroque era, this attraction wears its history on its sleeve.     I can't describe the beauty of this place. Definitely must see! It's hard to believe it was all made by humans!

    This is one of the most beautiful religious structures I’ve ever seen! So many beautiful details and pieces of art! The only negative comment is that too many people come in taking pictures and filming like it is an attraction. There are pictures available online and you can actually see the whole place on google maps in 3D so please don’t go in taking pictures as it ruins the experience for others!
