The mysterious and enchanting ambience at Altamont Gardens makes it unlike other gardens. Recognized as one of Ireland's finest, it combines formal and informal landscaping featuring some oaks over 500 years old and a giant redwood planted to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo. Also look for rare azaleas, rhododendrons, magnolias, wild bluebells, and snowdrops. There is something to catch the eye in any season, as different plants flourish here at different times.     A gorgeous escape, whatever the season. A beautiful walk surrounded by natures beauty, lots of meandering paths to take, Easy for all ages.  more »

    Highly recommended. Go down to the forest area too. Experience the 100 steps. Security personnel working explaining the one way system. Toilets very clean.  more »

    Beautiful gardens but a little overgrown. Pity restaurant closed at 4pm .good value as only have to pay €2 for parking. Lovely walk and you can bring your own picnic . Lots of tables and benches around the place. Would be nice if house was restored and opened to public. Well worth a visit for anyone who likes gardening

    Loved the walled garden with the magnificent display of flowers, shrubs.,& majestic trees that surrounded the wonderful nature trails. This is a haven and tranquil place to relax. Would love to see Altamount house restored.
