Kilmainham Gaol turns the clock back a few decades, offering you a look inside one of history's most notorious prisons. The imposing gray building played a key role in Irish history for over a century, finally closing its doors in 1924. Before then it provided a grim setting for the imprisonment of notable participants in the many uprisings for Irish independence, culminating in the execution of 14 men who led a rebellion that took place during Easter week in 1916. You can take a guided walk through the history of this eerie site, now one of Europe's largest unoccupied structures of its kind. Before you leave, look in on the yard where the infamous 1916 executions took place. To plan Dublin vacation without wasting time, ask Inspirock to design an itinerary.

Highly educationally tour and highlights an important part of Irish History. I can not speak for all the tour guides at Kilmainham Gaol but David our guide was extremely captivating in his description of the history of the Gaol. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Dublin. Buying tickets beforehand are highly recommended.
Such good value for an €8 ticket. We had 1+ hour tour with our guide David who was extremely knowledgeable. Fascinating place to walk around, always an opportunity for a photo. It was such a humbling experience being from the UK hearing about the recent history of Ireland, especially so with the current political climate. On top of this the museum was nicely done and such good added value for the money on top of the tour.
