At James Joyce Statue see a life-sized representation of Dublin's literary genius, the then-unpopular writer of now-famous Irish classics such as "Ulysses." Take your picture standing next to James Joyce's figure, looking critically into the distance. Find the statue on North Earl Street, a side street off of O'Connell Street. James Joyce Statue reviews
I love the bronze statues like this one & Molly Malone across the river, far more than the more modernistic ones. You get a feeling of the man when you look at this statue. He came from a time when.... more »
I am currently walking with a walking stick and felt right at home alongside James Joyce with his walking stick. He is a great writer and the statue is a real testament to his work and his talent. more »
Have you ever found yourself walking down North Earl Street, and suddenly the thought strikes you: "You know, I NEED to know what Joyce would look like if someone dipped him in bronze"? Well, you are in luck, my friend, because do I have the attraction for YOU! Very statuesque, uniquely Joycey. I watched it like a hawk for well over four hours, and it didnt move ONCE, nor did it at any point look even slightly less like Joyce. 10/10, would scrutinise again
A great statue of a literary giant. The sculpture is based on a photo taken of Joyce while in Zurich. I always imagine he's looking up at the Swiss sky and wondering what's happening back in Dublin: "it's probably raining in Dublin right now". He's positioned in such a way where he's nearly looking up at The Spire, no doubt inventing some creative nicknames for it. For a fella who created over 250 nicknames for Dublin in Finnegans Wake, I'm sure Joyce would have a lot to say about The Spire.
