Cobh Heritage Centre The Queenstown Story
At Cobh Heritage Centre The Queenstown Story, you can learn about Irish history and daily life during the 18th and 19th centuries. The Queenstown Experience features exhibits about Irish history, including emigration, the Great Irish Famine, and the RMS Titanic. The Titanic's final stop was in Cobh, which was formerly called Queenstown. Once you have finished touring the museum, relax at the cafe or browse one of the two gift shops. Very lovely and well put together. It gives a wonderful representation of what it was like as all those hopeful souls hot on the ship in search of a better life. There is an entrance fee to go into the exhibition but it is worth it, if you are interested in the facts behind the Titanic film. There is the ubiquitous souvenirs shop but also a café which is in the appropriate decor. Don't scoot by and make a bee-line just for the cathedral. Stop. Go in, enjoy tea and cake or soup or anything your heart desires. Wheelchair friendly as are the toilets.

Very well done exhibits. Exhibits encompass an extended period of Irish history. Visitors get a real feel for what it was like for people to leave their homes and families for the unknown. Excellent exhibits about the Titanic as well as the Lusitania. In addition to the fact that Cobh is a beautiful city, this intriguing museum exists in the middle of it. Not to be missed.
