To receive the gift of great skill at flattery, kiss Blarney Stone. A block of Carboniferous limestone set into the Blarney castle, the stone was built into the battlements in 1446. Admire the castle and its gorgeous gardens, but don't leave without honoring the old legend that anyone who kisses the limestone will become excellent at persuasion. Though the task is difficult, as you must lean over the parapet's edge backwards to reach the stone, millions of visitors have taken part in the age-old tradition. A visit to Blarney Stone represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Cork visit planning site to plot your vacation.

This could be a two or a five, it all depends on your perspective! Personally, I think it was worthwhile, but I wouldn't recommend you actually make contact! more »
The Blarney Stone is situated at the top of the castle. You have to climb narrow winding stone stairs to reach it. Not for anyone with mobility issues. The stone is reached by lying backwards through.... more »
Beautiful grounds with spectacular and super interesting gardens. Very mysterious. Well planned. Castle very interesting but the queue to the top of the castle (where the Blarney Stone is) is far too long...can be well over an hour and a half. If you just want to see inside the castle and not kiss the stone, you still have to queue up together with the stone kissers. Way too long! The gardens are the highlight of Blarney Castle.
I can not recommend the Blarney Stone enough! The castle is well maintained, interesting, and offers great views from the top. Kissing the stone was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. The grounds are incredibly well maintained and very beautiful, you could spend the whole day wandering around and enjoying the scenery. Overall an amazing experience!
