A paradise for bird-watchers, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve provides a home to more than 250 species of birds, many of them winter migrants from Greenland, Scandinavia, Arctic Canada, and Russia. Located on a flat slobland reclaimed from the sea over a century ago, the reserve was originally established for the preservation of wild geese from Greenland, its most famous resident. Take a guided tour of the three hides to learn more about the wildlife, or bring binoculars and climb the 8 m (26 ft) tall observation tower. Brought my daughter and her friend to the Wexford wildfowl reserve, North slobs, as its known locally, to do some research for a school project. We had so much fun in the observation tower looking at.... more »

At the end of October, thousands of geese, in particular from Greenland return to the reserve on the North Slob. The centre has a good and very interesting display and when we have gone up the tower..... more »

I wasn't really impressed with the reserve. Walked for more than an hour for a small swamp with geese. There's only limited space where you can wander around. If you're a bird watcher with gear it might be worth it, but for me it wasn't really worth coming out to.

Lovely quiet place with a good information centre with picnic tables and facilities. The hides were easily accessible Enjoyed the visit very much.
