The city's most famous waterfront boulevard, Marine Drive follows the shoreline of Back Bay and connects the bustling business district with the rest of town. Drive or stroll down the 3.5 km (2.2 mi) road, built in 1920 on reclaimed land, to get a glimpse of the numerous Art Deco-style buildings lining the way. Some of the most expensive real estate in the country lies along this road, evidenced by the high-rises and fancy homes that crowd the shore. You'll find the promenade one of the city's most popular places to meet, socialize, and eat, with the famous Chowpatty Beach at the north end a particularly well known spot for tasty street food.
