The Guyana National Zoo, Georgetown

2.0
#5 of 10 in Parks in Guyana
Zoo · Zoo / Aquarium
See over 100 species of tropical and exotic wildlife at The Guyana National Zoo, including the main tourist draws, the manatees and harpy eagles. You'll have the opportunity to see lots of interesting animals up close, which may especially delight younger visitors. The zoo focuses on conservation and education, and many of its residents are rescue animals. That said, approach with caution if seeing animals in captivity at a zoo in relative disrepair is likely to upset. • It's a great place for every body and it's very nice to see the different kinds of animals and learn from them more so if you never check it out go on and check it out it's great every body 'll love this place
  • The Guyana zoo is a relatively small zoo, but it hosts a diversity of local wildlife, including several protected species, such as the Scarlet Macaw, Jaguar, Giant River Otter, Harpy Eagle, and West Indian Manatee. The also hosts a petting zoo where animals rescued from abusive environments are rehabilitated and housed, and persons are allowed to buy food to feed these animals. Additionally, there is a portion of land in the adjacent Botanical Gardens that is set aside for the zoo's monkey island, where several capuchin monkeys live outside of enclosures.
