Designed to be formidable, Fort Nuestra Senora de la Soledad is a Spanish colonial fortification looking out over Umatac Bay. Built between 1802 and 1819, the fort became defunct shortly after the outbreak of the Mexican War of Independence. You can admire the cannons and crumbling walls as you explore the site, which is now protected as part of a national park. Great views and location. Make sure you stop and take pictures at the big bridge structure (looks like a fort) before the road goes uphill. When I visit the restrooms were locked also lots of local panhandlers.

Super quick spot but worth doing on the drive around. Good view of the port. Interesting history of the Spanish time. There are restrooms on site. A 5 to 10 minute visit unless you want to sit and watch the sea.
