A place of romantic sunsets and traditional taverns, Amoudi Bay sits just below the small port town of Oia. After a swim in the Aegean, scramble up the bay's red cliffs to take in sweeping views of the sea and the coastline, dotted by tiny beaches attracting water lovers from around the world. The bay gets extremely crowded by mid-afternoon, so try to arrive as early in the day as possible. It's best to spend the first part of the afternoon exploring the bay's many seafood restaurants, leaving plenty of time to find a good spot for watching the sunset near the water or up on the cliffs. Amoudi Bay is absolutely stunning! Views down from Oia show the turquoise sea and beautiful building built into the cliffs. The view from a boat - we got a tender from our cruise ship - is also... more »

I walked all the stairs down to the bay in Oia and walked them all back which is a serious workout, but I believe there is a road if you wanted to drive instead. The bay is very pretty with lots of... more »

The food was good however a little pricey. But the main reason for my poor ratting was the staff behaviour: We choose that restaurant for the sunset. When we approach the staff and ask for a good table for the sunset they told us that all tables are reserved expect one that was nor so good for the purpose. For our surprise, at the end of the dinner, there was plenty of free tables with a much better view for sunset. It was no good

Loved Amoudi Bay and it is a must visit on Santorini. The only struggle was when we tried leaving. We were exhausted and the last thing we wanted to do was climb up the stairs. If you are opposed to riding/abusing the donkeys then leaving the bay is tricky if not figured out in advanced. We ended up walking up the one road into the bay and finally after trying a dozen or so vans, one driver gave us the number to a taxi company. I had been trying to google a number but the service was non existent. We ended up walking up the steep hill until I had enough service to make the call. Just plan on how you plan on leaving. There is a boat shuttle option that can be expensive and may need to plan on advanced as well.
