Caves of Diros, Diros

4.1
#1 of 6 in Nature in Laconia Region
Must see · Cave · Nature / Park
Explore the series of natural underground waterways at Caves of Diros, the source for many Palaeolithic and Neolithic artifacts now housed in a museum. Take a boat tour to access the tunnels of caves, dramatically lit from within. Traverse below the thousands of stalactites that hang from the domed caved roof as you wend your way through. Though a guide drives the boat, little commentary is offered, leaving room for silence and inspiration. Arrive early to avoid waiting in line, and note the attraction may not be for those who suffer from claustrophobia. To visit Caves of Diros on your trip to Diros, use our Diros holiday builder app.

  • Complete waste of time and money at the moment. The shortened tour due to COVID takes around 15 minutes in total, of which only 5 minutes is on the boat with an entirely silent guide. Don’t drive all....  more »
  • Visited today and left very disappointed. The tour has been severely curtailed by the covid regulations as is the walking part. The boat trip is advertised as being 300m but was closer to 1-200m and.....  more »

  • Very good place if you like to see Caves and stalactite. it is a short trip. Don't think hours. With boat after just 5 minutes you will reach end of the sea path. and after sea path you will have to walk until exit. And one more short trip here just 5 minutes more. But caves very nice. Temperature was 🌡️ inside 16 degrees in September. If you have asthma Highly warn don't visit. Cause deep of the cave starting the walk you can feel less oxygen. Cons: Expensive. 10€ adult. 7€ child. So just 10 minutes trip it is very expensive.
  • Wonderful place, but the boat guide doesn't explain a word in English, for a recognized natural cultural heritage it is a shame. Currently, the exhibition involves 300 m by boat and another 300 m walking The beach outside is also lovely, but not organized
