St. Peter's Cathedral (St. Petri Dom), a Gothic cathedral, is one of the most iconic buildings of Bremen. Built in the 11th century, it has undergone a number of renovations and restorations over the centuries. Admire the grand architecture and look for hand-carved choir stalls from the 13th century. Descend into the crypt to see the lower portions of the walls and columns from the original building. The faint-hearted should skip the lead basement beneath the nave, which is home to eight mummies in glass-topped coffins.
