Bought in 1998 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her two sons, Domaine de Baronarques dates back to at least the 17th century, when the estate belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Polycarpe.
After changing hands several times, the estate was sold to Michel Tisseyre in 1875. The Tisseyre family extended the vineyards and, between 1890 and 1900; built an attractive house with a terrace and garden.
After extensive renovation of the vineyard, winery and cellars, Domaine de Baronarques has been producing high quality wine since 2003.
The 2003 vintage, the first from Domaine de Baronarques, was also one of the first to benefit from the appellation AOC Limoux rouge, which had just been created by the Institut National des Appellations d' Origine (INAO)

Our 1st stop on a fantastic day touring the Limoux and Malepere regions. The fabulous host Perrine, pitched the content of the tour perfectly, to our relatively inexperienced wine club. The wine tasting was exceptional and again presented in an informal way with Perrines easy style and great humour. All in all, thoroughly recommended and apologies again for the door handle!

Beautiful and wide vinyard. Free of charge and very informative tour. The wines are good and classy. Worth the visit if you in the area
