Admire the unique architecture of Chateau de Montal, a masterpiece of the French Renaissance with three round towers and one square tower. Jeanne de Balsac (a woman) built the castle from 1519 to 1534. She's also responsible for restoring and furnishing the chateau in the early 20th century style. Take in the striking contrast of the light stone with the black slate roof. Walk along the garden paths lined with evergreen dwarf-hedge mazes. The site is available for event rental, so call ahead to make sure the grounds and interior will be open to the public.     It was very nice suprice. Castle is quite small but full of interesting history, well restaurated and got some special warm atmosphere. Stairs of the castle are really amazing. Definitely recommend.  more »
