The earliest settlement of Site and archaeological museum Ensérune dates back to the pre-Roman 6th century BCE. Since the discovery of ceramic shards here in 1915, excavations have continued to provide scholars with insights into the merging of Celtic-Iberian populations and Mediterranean civilizations. Researchers have discovered that the earliest settlement was comprised of simple houses and several silos for food storage. You will find architecture from a range of cultures and eras, including the stone buildings of the Hellenistic period, terraces and tanks of the Gauls, and other archeological discoveries displayed in the museum.     The location was under some renovations to the grounds when we hiked to the top of the Oppidum, but we could see some of it from a distance and had seen the in-ground grain silos and other features...  more »

    Good historical site with outstanding views across the French countryside. A small air conditioned museum with friendly helpful staff (even supplying water for our dog on a hot day!). The family...  more »

    Cycled up to the entrance but wasn't able to enter(already closed). There's plenty to see and do outside of the actual site itself, with great views all around. It was relatively expensive to enter from what I recall but seems to be organised and well laid out. Worth it just view at the top

    Amazing site to visit showing development over many centuries. Unique view if choices a particular community made regarding farming. The museum is worth the visit.
