Founded by Napoleon I, Musee des Beaux-Arts features drawings, paintings, and sculptures ranging from the Renaissance to the 20th century. The permanent collections--which fill 60 rooms--feature paintings by such artists as Carracci, Rubens, Caravaggio, Boucher, Renoir, Pissaro, Degas, and Monet. The drawing exhibition alone contains over 8,000 pieces. The statuary of the museum is similarly impressive, including "Hercules Slaying the Hydra of Lema" by Pierre Paul Puget.   • Musee des Beaux-Arts was established in the early 19th century. It houses some excellent works of art, ranging from Roman times to more modern times. There many paintings and a number of sculptures.....  more »
  • This really is a beautiful museum with many really beautiful artifacts. We really enjoyed it. There's so much to see, from paintings to pottery and some really stunning statuettes.  more »
  • Great art but I saw swastikas :( I don't understand the use in this museum. I know some forms of that symbol don't mean hate but I can't ignore how it makes me feel.
  • Good experience but not much of a beaux art display, only the building
