From 1957 to 1958, the mayor of Menton, Francis Palmero requested the renowned Jean Cocteau to decorate his wedding hall. A masterpiece of its kind, the artist designed a magnificent setting perfect in the eyes of many a critique. Everything in La Salle des Mariages was designed by the master's hand. The murals of course but also wooden doors patterned diamond points, carpet, as well as leopard style bronze candelabra. The highlights of this hall are the portraits of eternal lovers are traced in a meander line.     Besides the murals all other decoration is also by the multitalented artist - red velvet chairs, metal lamps resembling flowers, leopard carpet and the obligatory Marianne in all French wedding...  more »
