Musee Chateau has watched over the town below since the 12th century. However, the only part of the castle still standing from this time is the Queen’s Tower with its 4 m (13 ft) thick walls; the rest of the castle was completed in the 16th century. The structure suffered from multiple fires, but remained strong enough to serve as a military barracks until 1947. It's now a museum housing Alpine popular art, such as furniture, sculptures, photography, and modeled chalets. Stand on the castle terrace and look out over the narrow streets of the old town, or visit the lookout tower for a wider view of the area. I so loved this place. It's historic but well maintained and clean, cobbled streets, nice cafe's, restaurants and shops. The choice is really much. Walking around there takes you back to old times. It's like an hour drive from Geneva. Imagine the beautiful big mounatins and peaceful lake around you, it's just wonderful.

Worth the visit for the views and the art exposed in it. However I would have preferred some expo on people living inside here before instead of contemporary art, and general expo on Annecy.
