Musee des Beaux-Arts, Angers

#3 of 11 in Museums in Angers
Art Museum · Hidden Gem · Landmark
A stunning example of turn-of-the-century architecture, Musee des Beaux-Arts is complete with a radiant central patio that lights the work of Picasso, Rubens, and Kandinsky. The museum houses 11 of Kandinsky’s influential works, to be exact. After you’ve been inspired by the brushstrokes of days past, then check out the Grand d’Art wing, completed in 2013 by architect Stanton Williams. Don’t leave out the Chapel of the Oratory, which the museum annexed. It’s no longer a place of worship, but it still offers a welcome respite. • Visited for free during Angers summer festival. An exhibition on animals was on display. Well displayed and organized. Nice place outside the museum too.
